Haha thanks, LOOOONG time lurker on both /r/cars and Jalopnik. I just am not a fan of the kind of hate filled vitriol that anonymity lays the groundwork for. Jalopnik has its flaws, but so does everything else. I will continue to browse Oppo/Jalop on a daily basis. >.>

I don't really want to be too negative right now, but it just seems like every post is about the new Mustang, the new F150, some Hellcat the new Miata, and any, ANY, story that involves a Porsche... Occasional Russian dash cam and car crash or road rage sprinkled in.

A jalopy is "an old car in dilapidated condition," but a site that calls itself Jalopnik caters to the uppity upper-middle class and daydreamers, and posts absolutely nothing useful for DIYers or even the not mechanically-inclined common car owner who happen to like cars. All these wasted posts about new specs and $60k 700+HP cars and EcoBoost whatever, how you would you configure such-and-such, how many of the readers are even in the market for a new car, let alone an impractical one? It's like a fantasy blog sometimes...

Anyway, but to subject matter at hand.

I like Doug's writing. Doug is funny and not full of shit. He does not pretend to be the average Joe whilst riding around in a Ferrari and a Land Rover. He participates in the comment sections and has a good sense of humor and I find him very sincere. He even responds to criticism on Reddit, and still resists being an asshole about it.
